Membership

As per bye-laws of IDEA, there are four types of membership viz.

Presently (2017) there are 364 Life/ Corporate and Ordinary members. There are a large number of Associate Members, whose strength varies from time to time as they join at the time of Conference and participate in its activities.
Presently, the available statistics indicate that there are 1000-1200 full-time faculty members working in various OUs and DDEs, who are eligible to become Life/ Ordinary members and more than one lakh part-time faculty is engaged in various activities and part- time staff can only join as Associate members.
In the normal circumstances, the present membership may be considered as 'average', but there is still sufficient scope for enlargement of membership. It is however significant to note that several major Open Universities and DDEs have taken Life Membership and this itself is an achievement.
Members get 'Open Ideas' (an official newsletter) and other official documents being published by IDEA from time-to-time free of cost. A Journal being published in collaboration (with SDLCE, Kakatiya University for several years) with various has been distributed free of cost for the first decade.
Apart from this members received invitations to all conferences and seminars etc., free of cost. Members also received IDEA publications on concessional rates. These are some of the regular 'services' provided to the members,
